Suppose a fusion reactor ran on d-d reactions i.e. can fuse two isotopeH nuclei. Estimate how much water for fuel would be needed per hour to run a pqMW reactor asing % efficiency.

With an efficiency of % the fusion reactions must provide P fracpqeW. pq.eW. Hence in one hour the fuel must release the energy E P t pq.eW pqs pq.eJ. One reaction provides the energy asing d-d fuses to isotopeHe E Delta m c^ m_H m_d c^ pq.u- pq.u c^ pq-.MeVpcq c^ pq-.MeV pq.J. Obviously N fracpq.eJpq.J numpr.e fusion-reactions are necessary. Half the amount of heavy chemicalD_O water molecules is needed i.e. numpr.e. Its Mass is m fracNN_A M pq.mol pq.gpmol pq.g.
